Coombe Girls’ School in Surrey add a Large Dining Canopy

Coombe Girls’ School in New Malden, Surrey were looking to improve their facilities to provide increased dining space for the students to use for dining and break time. The school – whose mission is to create a tailored learning experience to develop curious, creative, and confident students – was looking for a canopy that could shelter students during their lunch breaks and accommodate a large number of students.

After contacting A&S Landscape, the school shared their vision and requirements with our specialist team who began to turn that vision into a reality. We installed a Motiva Duo™ canopy, with dimensions 24000mm x 10000mm, with a Squirrel Grey Duracoat™ which ensures the structure remains resistant to scratches, chipping, abrasions, corrosion, fading, and other wear issues. The school chose to pair this with an Opal polycarbonate roof, which is one of our most popular colour choices due to its versatile design that projects a lot of light.

The students at Coombe Girls’ School love the extra space, and having the choice of eating their lunch indoors/outdoors. The large finished space is so versatile (and could also be used for outdoor learning, concerts, and events), so we can’t wait to see all of the ways the school takes advantage of this new space.

Lime Tree Primary School in Merstham Add Covered Walkway

Straight roof canopy we designed for Lime Tree School

Lime Tree Primary School in Merstham, based in beautiful Surrey, required a durable canopy cover that would provide protection from the elements for staff and pupils when moving between classes using external entrances. This institution, which works hard to give children the best school lives possible, needed a model with great coverage that could also adjoin their existing building. They worked with A&S Landscape to find the right product for them.

After much deliberation, they picked the Motiva Linear™ as the shelter they wanted to add to their school facilities. They liked the effortless design of their chosen Slate Grey steelwork and Opal polycarbonate roofing, and thought it would offer brilliant protection from all sorts of weather – including sun and rain. The area they needed to cover was over 40 metres long but, as the Motiva Linear™ is available in virtually any dimensions, it was no trouble to supply them with a model that suited their requirements. This straight roof canopy variant was the perfect choice for a covered walkway, as it has been used for many such applications before.

Everyone was happy with the sleek look of their new custom canopy, and now pupils can move between lessons and classrooms without worrying about the weather. It could also be used as a playground shelter, so children get a little more time outdoors when they would otherwise have been having rainy break times! Want to know more about school shelters? Play and Learning Canopy Installed at Danes Hill School in Oxshott

Playground shelter we installed at Danes Hill SchoolDanes Hill School in Oxshott wanted to install a canopy to provide their pupils with year-round opportunities for outdoor learning and play. The staff – who ‘guide children so that they become independent and confident individuals’ – felt that the design was particularly important and wanted it to be striking and colourful, as well as large enough to accommodate many children enjoying being outside. A&S Landscape had some fantastic ideas to make this a reality.

A 30500mm X 4000mm Motiva Mono™ was installed at Danes Hill School – custom specifications which A&S Landscape was happy to supply by adapting their product so it could be enjoyed by even more pupils at once. This particular model is a popular choice for play area canopies, and it has a stylish asymmetric roof that works well next to existing buildings. It is also ideal to cover outdoor learning spaces, and the multicoloured steelwork and Opal roof made for a bright design that would inspire everyone at the school.

The play and learning canopy was a hit with Danes Hill School. The colourful design matched a Motiva Duo™ that A&S Landscape had previously installed and the two shelters have improved the institution’s outdoor facilities. Pupils can now use the space as an outdoor classroom gazebo, or a playground canopy to encourage exercise and socialising outside, whether it’s sunny or rainy. If you’re thinking about purchasing a shelter of your own, call us on 01743 444100 now.

Enclosed Fabric Shelter Installed at Furzefield Primary School in Redhill

A&S Landscape installed a Maxima Tepee™ with waterproof fabric at 9800mm x 8000mm. The genius of the installation was the addition of walls in PVC with windows, meaning that they created another outdoor classroom. Steelwork was installed in Dark Green (RAL 6026) and the fabric roof was a bright Yellow (RAL 1003). A super addition to the playground that is well used all year round.

The new tepee area means that everyone at Furzefield Primary School can benefit from shade on hot summer days and protection from the elements on chillier days of the year. Furzefield Primary

Covered Dining Area in Guildford at Queen Eleanor’s C of E Junior School

A Maxima Tepee™ structure was installed on the school campus, measuring a total of 10000mm x 10000mm. The material used on the Ivory coloured roof is made with a PVC waterproof fabric, so the canopy can be used in all weather conditions. The Opal Green steelwork contrasts with the neutral roof to create a striking effect. Queen Eleanor’s C of E Junior School also chose to include post protector pads to complete the canopy.

The pupils can now sit outside during their break times without having to worry about the weather. The tepee has become a very popular addition to the school, as it provides an additional social and study space, as well as an outdoor classroom. The pupils can also enjoy some fresh air during the school day, helping them to refresh ahead of their next lessons at Queen Eleanor’s C of E Junior School.

Notre Dame Junior School Add Polycarbonate Roof Shelter to Play Area

St Piers School in Lingfield Add Curved Roof Shelter

Young Epilepsy St Piers SchoolTwo of the school buildings had a very unloved available space between them that was not used by the children because it exposed them to the elements, be it UV rays in the summer or wet weather in the winter. This was a real shame because the more options the children have for spending time outside or having some quiet time outside the classroom, the better.

With more than 40 years’ experience working with schools and other public buildings we were very pleased to come up with a solution for the area. Our Motiva Duo™ was perfect to span across the space. Aluminium gutters completed the canopy, ensuring that rainwater was efficiently taken from the roof and away from the area.

The result is a new space for the children of St Piers School to enjoy. The addition of a colourful fence means this is safe and secure and can be enjoyed throughout the school day and in fact throughout the year if they so wish! We are pleased to have helped create additional external space, which can be used as an outdoor learning area.

Epsom College in Surrey Cover Outdoor Seating Area with Wall-mounted Sail Shade

Epsom College, SurreySail shade we designed for Epsom College, was keen to ensure that they were able to offer socially distanced outdoor meeting space to comply with the Government guidance. This historic college was mindful that any shelter solution must fit well with the surrounding buildings.

Oasis Academy Coulsdon Create Outdoor Dining Area with Canopy

Like so many other schools, Oasis Academy Coulsdon, located in Surrey, wanted to enhance their campus resourcesCurved roof shelter we designed for Oasis Academy Coulsdon. Juggling budgets and student numbers in busy school communities is often a challenge. With not enough in the budget for a full school extension, the question of how to get the most out of the campus resources can be difficult to answer. That is, unless, like Oasis Academy Coulsdon, you start to look at the space on your campus that isn’t actually adding any value. Looking creatively at what space there is outside can often unlock the potential of an otherwise unused space.

Oasis Academy Coulsdon wanted to create a shelter solution that enabled pupils to enjoy the campus outside spaces, whilst protecting them from the weather. Rain or shine, a well thought-out canopy cover can be a great way to achieve this. Following a consultation with our designers, Oasis Academy Coulsdon commissioned a 12 metre by 10 metre Motiva Duo™ from our range. The Duo is a fabulous choice for an outdoor shelter on a high school campus. The sizes and configurations are expansive and, the opportunity to customise your design comes in the form of a range of optional extras. Oasis Academy brought in colours from their emblem and uniform, selecting Signal Green (RAL 6032) for the steel shelter frame and Opal for the polycarbonate roofing.
