Posted on 21/02/2018

We added five rectangular shade cloth sails over the water play area as well as two sails over the play area and sandpit area. All the sails were installed in matching Turquoise fabric to bring the areas together.

Project – An array of shade sails complete spectacular play area at London special school

Product – Maxima Sail

Requirement – Brent Knoll School in London say that they are “creating excellence in special education” Situated in a brand new multi-million pound building, designed and built with the needs of young people with autism very much in mind, the school boasts superb specialist facilities. Their outdoor facilities are particularly impressive. With faux grass, they have installed all-weather areas, including sandpits, play frame equipment and a wonderful tiered water play area.

Solution – All these wonderful spaces needed to have some shade from the sunshine so that they could be enjoyed all year round. This is where A&S Landscape came on board. We added five rectangular shade cloth sails over the water play area as well as two sails over the play area and sandpit area. All the sails were installed in matching Turquoise fabric to bring the areas together. The end result is a striking design.

Result – So impressive was the end result, that the whole school was shortlisted for an architectural award. The most important customers, the children themselves, are very happy with their outside space. Enjoying the area even on the sunniest days of the year.
