Umbrella Dining Area at Nottinghamshire school

When Selston High School contacted A&S Landscape looking for a new dining shelter, they had a rather intriguing solution in mind.
Project – Umbrella dining area – Selston High School
Product – 4 x Maxima Umbrellas
Requirement – The trick to great design is to know when to mix things up.
Contrasting colours and using more than one of the same structure can lead to new and intriguing combinations.
That’s the real magic, when you take something and use it in a new way. You re-imagine it.
You remix it. Because that’s what ‘new’ is, a remix.
So when Selston High School contacted A&S Landscape looking for a new dining shelter, they had a rather intriguing solution in mind.
Solution – Instead of going for a traditional canopy, Selston High School had four Maxima Umbrellas installed, forming one, large space. But they didn’t stop there, asking for the Umbrellas in contrasting colours meaning they have an entirely unique combination. Their very own remix of our popular Maxima Umbrella.
Result – The result is a large, smart and flexible space offering an area for students to eat outside, as well as being a social zone, protected from the elements by the strong waterproof fabric over their heads.
Find Out More – If everything is a remix then creating unique designs is not really about coming up with something new, but about combining things in new ways.
So when you take a look through the A&S Landscape catalogue, ask yourself if taking an idea from here and matching it with an idea from over there could just help you make something unique that solves a problem for your school whilst creating a piece of unique design, too.
