Part of a large investment in the school was the regeneration of a rather unloved outdoor area, to create an outdoor seating area for students. This provided somewhere new for them to eat, socialise, relax in between lessons and take in some fresh air.

The bright Poppy Red sails made a smart design statement and gave this area a real sense of purpose. Students at The Bulmershe School now have another area to enjoy outside, no matter what the weather is doing. We were pleased to be able to work on the site in term time, demonstrating that this can be done safely and seamlessly by our team of considerate and efficient installers. Read what the school had to say below about us in their review below.

“We have been really happy with the service, installation and our finished product, our all-weather canopy sail. From our first contact with A&S Landscape, we have received an outstanding service, a culture that has run throughout the company from sales, admin to installation team. The canopy was erected in the school term by the very diligent and friendly installation team who worked throughout the school day to get the job done. Thank you A&S Landscape.”

The benefits of playing outside on young children and why we need to encourage more children to do so

Converging studies state that children’s outdoor play is necessary for their healthy development and academic performance. This matter emphasises the benefits of outdoor play in early childhood on physical health, mental well-being, and social and cognitive development. It also emphasises the need to change the trends so that children can have regular access to outdoor play. The extensive interventions needed to reduce parents’ worries need practitioners’ training, policy changes and improved urban planning for safer environments and natural play spaces. That is an enormous objective that will take multiple years to carry out. However, there are ways that schools can intervene, to aid children in attaining their important repeated experience with high quality unstructured outdoor play opportunities, which will aid their development and academic performance.

Continue reading to discover why outdoor play is so critical for child development, why it is disappearing and how schools can help.

A&S Landscape update, reinvigorate, enhance and redesign outdoor spaces with canopies, shade sails, tepees and even multi-use games areas. So, should you want something along these lines, we would be pleased to talk you through the options. Outdoors, we have it covered!
