Six outdoor canopies in Denbighshire

Posted on 02/02/2017

The beauty of being one of many pieces within a larger project is that you can see how the work you do forms part of the whole picture.

Project – Motiva Linear canopies used as part of a major extension at Bodnant Community School

Product – Motiva Linear

Requirement – There are many different sizes of projects.

Sometimes, for example, an outdoor entrance canopy can be all that is needed to provide a small but powerful impact to a school or college.

Then there are the bigger jobs, the much, much bigger jobs like the one we undertook at Bodnant Community School where we were one part of a much larger project that promised to change the face of the school forever.

When they contacted A&S Landscape they were looking to add a series of our Motiva Linear outdoor canopies to the outside of a new extension, part of a major plan to increase the capacity of Bodnant Community School to 420 full time pupils.

Solution – We installed six, yes, six Motiva Linear canopies at sizes ranging from 6400mm x 2000mm to 8200mm x 2000mm, each of which added a small lip at the edge of the extension giving shelter from the rain and cutting out direct sunlight, in turn providing a little more temperature control to the whole building.

Each canopy was finished in a smart mid blue steelwork (RAL5010) with clear polycarbonate roofing that adds to the overall aesthetics of the build.

Result – The beauty of being one of many pieces within a larger project is that you can see how the work you do forms part of the whole picture. The work completed at Bodnant Community School is ambitious and beautifully realised with a playful outdoor space that will be a joy to the 420 pupils at the school for many years to come.
