At A&S Landscape we were delighted to be part of the reason that extension came to fruition.

A&S Landscape supplied a range of Motiva Linear shelters to the façade of the new extension. In fact, we supplied six!

That’s six Motiva Linear canopies at sizes ranging from 6400mm x 2000mm to 8200mm x 2000mm, each of which added a small lip at the edge of the extension, giving shelter from the rain and cutting out direct sunlight, in turn providing a little more temperature control to the whole building.

How rising intake figures are impacting schools and how they can use shelters to combat this issue

The Department for Education has the responsibility to create the 420,000 new school places that are required between 2016 and 2021 and there are a great deal of ways that this can be completed. New schools are being built, free schools are being funded and current schools are receiving capital funding to preserve, upgrade and extend facilities. With budgets being overstretched, one way that schools are using this capital funding is to make the most of their outside space. Whether to build extra classrooms or to add sheltered spaces which can have a lot of different uses.

Some applications of outdoor sheltered areas include:

• Additional dining areas

• All-weather sports pitches

• Outdoor classroom

• Cycle Storage

• Outdoor theatre

Each canopy was finished in a smart mid blue steelwork (RAL5010) with clear polycarbonate roofing that adds to the overall aesthetics of the build.

Our Motiva Linear range is incredibly versatile and when utilised at different sizes can create any number of spaces.

Whether like Bodnant Community School you have them as a small area of shelter at the edge of each building or you create a more substantial area for play, dining or shelter we have a gallery to give you ideas.
