Our Approach to Sustainability
Taking practical steps towards a more sustainable future
At A&S Landscape, we understand our clients need supply chain partners who can demonstrate credible environmental management, responsible business practices and a clear commitment to continual improvement.
Our approach to sustainability is supported by recognised standards, including B Corp certification and ISO 14001 Environmental Management, helping to guide how we design, manufacture and install canopy systems for schools, public sector schemes and wider construction projects.
We recognise that sustainability expectations across construction procurement are continuing to develop, particularly around carbon reduction, responsible sourcing, product transparency and long-term lifecycle value. That is why we are focused on practical steps that help us reduce our impact, improve the information we provide, and strengthen the environmental evidence available across our product ranges.
As part of this ongoing work, we are reviewing the next stage of our sustainability strategy, including carbon reduction planning, Environmental Product Declarations, EcoVadis and Science Based Targets. This page outlines where we are today, what we are currently working on, and how we plan to keep strengthening our approach over time.
Our current foundations
Responsible business
As a certified B Corporation, we are part of a global community of businesses working to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. This supports our wider commitment to responsible business practices and continual improvement.
Environmental Management
Our ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification helps guide how we manage environmental responsibilities across our operations, from internal processes to the way we plan and deliver projects.
Quality, safety and compliance
Our wider quality, health and safety and contractor accreditations provide additional assurance for clients looking for reliable, compliant and responsible supply chain partners. These include ISO 9001 Quality Management, ISO 45001 Health and Safety Management, Constructionline Gold, CHAS, SMAS Worksafe and SafeContractor.
Strengthening our sustainability
We know that sustainability expectations across construction and public sector procurement are continuing to develop. To support our clients and strengthen the evidence available across our business, we are reviewing the next stage of our sustainability strategy.
Carbon reduction planning
We are reviewing how we measure, manage and reduce carbon across our operations, materials, logistics and installation activities. This will help us build a clearer picture of our emissions and identify practical actions to reduce our impact over time.
Product transparency
We are exploring Environmental Product Declarations for key canopy ranges, helping us provide clearer information about the environmental impact of our products across their lifecycle.
Supply chain assessment
We are reviewing third-party assessment routes such as EcoVadis to help strengthen transparency across responsible sourcing, environmental performance, ethics and wider supply chain practices.
Science-based targets
We are also exploring Science Based Targets as part of our longer-term carbon reduction planning, helping us understand how our future targets can align with recognised climate science.
Designed for long-term value
Sustainability is not only about how a structure is manufactured and installed. It is also about how well it performs over time.
Our canopy systems are designed to provide durable, long-term external space solutions that help clients make better use of their existing sites. By focusing on robust materials, careful detailing and low-maintenance finishes, we aim to deliver structures that remain functional, attractive and valuable for many years.
This long-term approach supports clients looking for reliable external spaces that can contribute to estate planning, everyday site use and best value over the life of the structure.
Supporting sustainable projects
We understand that sustainability requirements can vary from project to project, particularly across schools, public sector schemes and contractor-led works.
Our team can support clients from the early stages by providing clear product information, design guidance and specification support to help inform responsible decision-making. This may include information on material choices, product durability, lifecycle value, renewable energy opportunities and the long-term use of external space.
Where projects are working towards specific environmental objectives, such as BREEAM-led requirements, carbon reduction commitments or wider social value outcomes, we can work with the project team to provide relevant information and practical support throughout the design, tender and delivery stages.
Continuing to improve
We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing process, and our approach will continue to develop as client expectations, industry standards and environmental reporting requirements evolve.
As we make progress with areas such as carbon reduction planning, Environmental Product Declarations, EcoVadis and Science Based Targets, we will continue to update this page and share relevant information with clients, project teams and supply chain partners.
Our focus is on building a practical, evidence-led sustainability approach that supports responsible business decisions, strengthens the information we provide to clients and helps us reduce our environmental impact over time.
