Humberston Academy in Grimsby Add Dining Area Canopy
Ysgol Maes Ebbw is a purpose-built special school, looking after children and young people with special needs. To add to the impressive list of facilities, the school wanted to create areas of shelter and shade outside.
Black Grey - RAL 7021
Dusty Grey - RAL NO. 7037
A&S Landscape came on board to design, manufacture and install six Motiva Cantilever canopies. Each structure features Black Grey steelwork, giving the shelters a sleek and modern look. Opal polycarbonate roofing was also used on every canopy, providing essential protection from UV rays.
We also installed a Maxima Tepee at the school, with Dusty Grey uprights and a white fabric roof. Made with a waterproof PVC material, the tepee can be left up in all weather conditions throughout the year. And with no central posts, this canopy design is ideal as more covered, usable space is created.
Converging studies confirm that children’s outdoor play is paramount for their healthy development and academic performance. This subject reveals the benefits of outdoor play in early childhood on physical health, mental well-being, and social and cognitive development. It also reveals the need to change the trends so that children can have daily access to outdoor play. The long-term interventions necessary to reduce parents’ worries need practitioners’ training, policy changes and improved urban planning for safer environments and natural play spaces.
The school are overjoyed with the new shelters, now more quality time can be spent outside in the fresh air. This will have many great benefits for the students, aiding their development and learning at the school.
We thoroughly enjoyed working at Ysgol Maes Ebbw, adding to their existing list of impressive facilities including a hydrotherapy pool, sensory garden and fully equipped gym. Their invaluable work goes to improve the lives and opportunities of the local community.
