Like many schools across the UK, Ton-Yr-Wen Primary School came to A&S Landscape, asking us to help them provide a playground canopy which could help with this problem.
With more than 40 years’ experience working with schools to transform outdoor spaces and add playground shade and shelter we were more than happy to assist.
The playground area was large and there was a long wall of the school building which we decided to build the canopy along. The canopy almost acts like a classroom extension. At 13000mm x 5000mm the new covered area is nice and big and offers plenty of options for new outdoor activities for the children. They could even have lessons outside now if they wanted to, come rain or shine.
“It is being well used, there is seating underneath and the children are enjoying it! It looks great, is well constructed and communication throughout the project has been exemplary. Furthermore, the professionalism and versatility of the installers was excellent. We would use A&S Landscape again in a heartbeat. Thanks again!”

Children are not in control of the food they consume or the exercise they take. On top of that, when they exercise, the respiratory implications and body weakness can result in embarrassment amongst their peers as they struggle to move. Though, it is important to endorse healthier eating, more exercise, and support a child who lives with obesity in fighting the depression, anxiety, stigma, and the health and academic implications linked with obesity, which is a task much more significant than it first looks to be.
We can clarify some of the fixes Dame Sally Davies details in her report: Time To Solve Childhood Obesity into three factors.
Explore how we can achieve these solutions and more over on our full article page.
The Motiva Linear canopy was chosen to create the playground shelter. The canopy was built with a steel frame and polycarbonate roofing.
