St Helen’s Primary School in Swansea Cover Playground Area

St Helen’s Primary School in Swansea knew they wanted a canopy adding to their school site and even went to the council for extra funding to secure the work. A&S Landscape thoroughly enjoyed completing the job for this welsh primary school.

Project Specification

  • Product: Motiva Linear™
  • Size: 4000mm X 3000mm
  • Steelwork:
    • Ultramarine Blue - RAL NO. 5002

  • Roof:
    • Opal

A straight roof canopy was installed opposite the main playground. The Motiva Linear shelter measures 4000mm X 3000mm so the structure isn’t too imposing on the site. The marine blue steelwork complements the surrounding fixtures and helps the canopy blend into the campus. What’s more, is that the opal polycarbonate roofing blocks harmful UV rays while still allowing some sunlight through.

Everyone at St Helen’s Primary School loves the new canopy. The pupils can use it while they are lining up for their next lessons throughout the year. The school can also store equipment outside underneath it, saving valuable storage space inside. The staff can shelter under the canopy while they are supervising playtimes or sports lessons. Parents can also stand underneath when they are waiting for their children at the end of the day. It’s true to say that the new shelter has been a great addition to the school.

Why ensuring your playgrounds are safe is so important and how this can be achieved

It’s supposed that in the UK alone, around 40,000 children are hurt by playground accidents. Plenty of these even end up in the hospital or A&E, making it critical that schools do everything they can to enforce proper playground safety. UK schools across the country face problems with making their playgrounds as safe as possible – fortunately, a lot of these accidents can be prevented with vigilant supervision.

By following safety standards and examining surfaces and equipment, you can do a lot to prevent future accidents that your pupils may have – making it an environment that can be safe and fun to play around in with less hazards.
