The Maxima Tepee is a great option to add instant shelter to almost any area. At Darland High School we were creating two sheltered dining areas and whilst they needed structures at 7000mm x 7000mm we can install at virtually any size, with single units available from 3000mm to 15000mm. Multiple units (common centre beam and uprights) can be used to cover just about any size of area. At Damiens RC College we also installed three green tepee canopies, to create a ‘break out’ area.

You also get a great deal of flexibility with the PVC fabric coming in two weights and many colour options. The steelwork is available in any RAL colour and post pads can look fantastic whether complementing or in contrast to the colour of the structure. Take a look at our full colour range.

It’s always recommended to get in touch with us early so we can help you consider all aspects of an installation and choose the options that work best for you.

The Benefits of Eating Outdoors and What Schools Can Do To Facilitate Alfresco Dining

There is a lot of research that shows the benefits of spending time outdoors; reducing heart rate, blood pressure, stress hormones and muscle tension. It can also enhance your mood. Enhancements in attention, memory and concentration have also been illustrated.

How does this effect children in school? Well, being inside for much of the day is linked to increased anxiety and depression. Couple this with the call of computer games and social media at home and you can see how imperative it is to offer children as many opportunities to be outdoors during the school day as possible.

Spending time outdoors contributes to Vitamin D levels (an important hormone that helps to protect against a selection of diseases such as osteoporosis, depression, heart attacks and stroke). It is shown in studies that many of us do not get a sufficient amount of this important vitamin, so more time outside is vital to help tackle this deficiency.

With the longest break in the school day being the lunch break, a great remedy is alfresco dining. More and more schools are bettering their outdoor areas, adding outdoor dining spaces, with canopies, shade sails, umbrellas and even enclosed outdoor dining rooms. With soaring pupil numbers, this is a solution to the increased pressure that existing dining rooms come under as schools grow.

Continue reading our article to find out how schools can resolve this issue and allow their pupils to spend more time outside.
