School Shade Sails at Weston Road High School Stafford

It was an honour to work on this project at Weston Road High School installing two vibrant Maxima StarSails. Our StarSail is a square design with two high points and two low points on a single upright.

Project Specification

It’s a creative and flexible option that uses only the best quality materials whether that be our knitted shade cloth or coated PVC fabric.

The unique design catches the eye and gives spaces a really distinctive, modern touch. At Weston Road High School it was used to provide shade and shelter in a social space and instantly gave the space a whole new feel.

Whether it’s used for play areas to provide shade or dining areas to provide shelter, the Maxima StarSail is always a focal point. They also work well when overlapped to form a feature. If you’re interested in a playground shelter then take a look at our full range.

Should eating outside at school be a privilege or necessity?

There are lots of recognised benefits to dining outside as a part of the school day. As children spend the whole day in a classroom environment, it is important that they are given time to breathe at lunchtime. In spending this break outdoors, it not only promotes a restful atmosphere but can also decrease levels of hyperactivity in a pupil. If a student is directed to occupy their break inside, it can echo the classroom setting and prevent them from taking enough amount of time to relax. Eating outdoors is also a very sociable activity, unconfined by the dining hall setting pupils can chat with other year groups easily.

Over on our blog you can explore how schools can allow their pupils to dine outdoors regularly – click here.
