Nursery Children Enjoy Playground Shade Sail at School in Loughton

The children in the nursery area at Thomas Willingale School really enjoy playing outside but the one thing that limited them was the lack of shade. Their nursery area was crying out for a shaded area to protect them from UV rays. If they had a covered space they could use it for outdoor learning as well as play.

How to keep your school playground safe and why this is so crucial

It’s predicted that in the UK alone, around 40,000 children are hurt by playground accidents. Copious amounts of these even end up in the hospital or A&E, making it crucial that schools do everything they can to carry out proper playground safety. UK schools across the country face difficulties with making their playgrounds as safe as possible – luckily, a lot of these accidents can be avoided with diligent supervision.

By following safety suggestions and testing surfaces and equipment, you can do a lot to prevent potential accidents that your pupils may have – making it a space that can be safe and fun to play around in with fewer hazards.

The school decided on a Maxima Sail which measured 5500mm x 3500mm. It looked really smart with Yellow (RAL 1003) steelwork and Cherry Red roofing. We also installed a shade sail at Oughtibridge Primary School in Sheffield.

The nursery children are delighted with the bright new shade sail. It completes the nursery area design beautifully. What better way to spend a sunny afternoon than learning or having a story or just chatting under the shade sail in the garden. Outside time is so beneficial for children, as well as running off steam it helps them to enjoy a different environment and allows them to focus when they return to the indoor classroom.
