Dean Trust Ardwick School in Manchester Add Straight Roof Canopies

What was the project brief?

Dean Trust Ardwick in Manchester recognised how much the students enjoyed spending their breaks outside, in the fresh air. To make the outdoor space accessible and usable throughout the year, the team decided to install two all-weather canopies at the campus to make covered space. A&S Landscape was bought on-board to help the school create some covered space for the students.

What was our shelter solution?

We suggested using our straight roof Motiva Linear canopy, which features a monopitch (asymmetric) roof design. The school were thrilled with the proposal we sent to them, and we started work on manufacturing and then installing the shelter.

The steelwork of the two canopies was finished in a subtle and modern Anthracite Grey colour, which works perfectly with the school buildings. Opal polycarbonate sheeting was used on the shelters too, providing essential protection from harmful UV rays.

What was the result of their new outdoor classroom?

During break and lunchtimes, the students of Dean Trust Ardwick love to socialise and spend time with their friends under the shelters. Come rain or shine, they can now spend some quality time during the school outdoors. This allows them to refresh and relax properly before their next lessons, helping them to stay motivated and ready to learn.

The shelter can also be used during lessons, allowing the teachers to take their classes in an alternative learning environment. This will create an engaging and memorable lesson, as the students get to learn outside of the four walls of a classroom.

Dean Trust Ardwick first opened in 2015, and now takes in students from Year 7 to 11 in Manchester. As part of the Dean Trust, it forms part of a group of high-achieving schools and it’s clear that every member of the team is enthusiastic about providing the highest level of education.

In collaboration with an authorised reseller we designed a straight polycarbonate roof canopy for St Agnes Ce Primary School, 50 Hamilton Road, Longsight, Manchester. Working with our building contractor client our engineers produced a straight polycarbonate roof canopy at Mersey Drive Primary School, Whitefield, Manchester, Greater Manchester. The job involved the supply and installation of one Motiva™ monopitch straight roof canopy measuring 3250mm X 2000mm, and included for our Alu-Tuff™ aluminium box profile guttering and downpipes in matching Dura-coat™ colour finish.

Sail Shades Installed at St Peters CE Primary School

In combination with an authorised reseller A&S designed three triangle sails for St Peters CE Primary School, Swinton, Manchester. The full contract involved one 7000mm X 7000mm Maxima™ tensile shade cloth fabric sail structure comprising of three triangle sails on five uprights including for all stainless steel fixtures and fittings.

Covered Sports Pitch Shelter Fitted at Rumworth School

We created a DryMuga canopy and hall canopy in Rumworth School, Bolton, Greater Manchester. Working alongside our trade partner A&S designed a playground umbrella at Bridgewater Primary School, Bridgewater Street, Little Hulton, Manchester. Full details are: the supply and fitting of one Maxima™ waterproof Umbrella structure supported on a single upright measuring 6000mm X 6000mm.

Roller Shutters Added to Canopy at Horwich Parish CE Primary School

Our engineers erected five rollers shutter doors in Horwich Parish CE Primary School, 7 Church St, Horwich, Bolton Bl6 6Ah, Horwich, Greater Manchester. Full details are: three shutters 3073mm wide x 2650mm high, two shutters 3300mm wide x 2650mm high and two triangular infills 3400mm wide x approx’ 750mm high.

In combination with our building contractor client we designed a curved roof canopy at Royal Mail Middleton, 53 Manchester New Road, Middleton, Manchester. The contract included one Motiva™ Mono monopitch curved roof canopy measuring 5000mm X 2500mm and included for our Alu-Tuff™ aluminium box profile guttering and downpipes in matching Dura-coat™ colour finish.
