Entrance Canopy at Randlay Primary School

Randlay Primary School and Nursery had only recently completed a new entrance to their building but felt they needed a little something extra to frame it, to bring it to life and finish the design off beautifully.

A&S Landscape has more than 40 years’ experience working with schools so we knew that we could match the canopy beautifully to the colours on the building. We installed a Motiva Entro at 3000mm x 2000mm in a gorgeous Blue (RAL 5010) steelwork which complemented the existing design perfectly, giving them a colourful entrance canopy that provides a sharp design feature and gives their entrance even more identity. We think it looks really smart; I am sure you will agree?

“Following a new entrance area and school office being built on our school last year, it was decided to finish everything off by erecting a colourful and welcoming canopy to further highlight the main entrance to the school. A&S Landscape designed, built and fitted the canopy and, without a shadow of a doubt, it has proved to be a wonderful addition to the new build. We are more than delighted with the canopy itself as the design, the quality of workmanship and the finish are exceptional. Parents, children and visitors continue to comment on the canopy and how it has given the school’s entrance area an identity it so long needed. Thank you.”

Why schools should encourage lessons to be taken outdoors and what actions they can take to ensure this can help all-year-round

Classrooms have long been the environment of choice for a great deal of schools, but the benefits of outdoor learning are speedily being observed. You might possibly think that it’s not accomplishable, especially with the variable British weather, but with a canopy, teaching outdoors can become a reality. With a large number of measurements available for different applications, any school can install a shelter to turn any outdoor area into a new kind of classroom.

For students, different environments can enliven and excite, creating an increased aptitude to pick up new information. At a young age, typical classrooms can provide minimal stimulation for pupils and educational growth can become underdeveloped. By exploring the use of outdoor teaching, children can find experimental and enthralling ways of learning. Fresh air, and the ability to teach in a much larger space, can open up new doors to the way that lessons are taught and the exercises which can be conducted.
