Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng in Powys Finds Three Outdoor Canopies

Everyone at Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng was hugely impressed with the three outdoor canopies. They work incredibly well with the bright look of the new building and offer space for the children to always get outside and play or socialise, even if it’s raining, which can be valuable for their wellbeing, learning and development.

Project Specification

What was the project brief?

Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng in Welshpool, Wales was searching for a set of outdoor shelters for its new building. It needed something modern and welcoming to match the site’s excellent refurbishments that would also be a practical addition to make life easier and more fun for both pupils and staff. It was imperative that they came with the same designs to promote visual cohesion across the facilities and didn’t detract from the fun, colourful frontages they were placed next to. The team contacted us and we were delighted to be part of the improvements at their school.

What was our canopy solution?

It was important that we got the feel of the shelters just right and, after much deliberation, our Motiva Linear™ was the winning model. The Motiva Linear™ has a classic style well-matched to a client in need of unobtrusive but appealing canopies, and we built on this by adding Jet Black steelwork and Opal polycarbonate roofing which contrasted wonderfully with the splashes of colour featured on the new building. We did this for all three of the outdoor shelters that Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng requested, and this made for identical designs that helped the outside space look more unified. They were perfect for protecting children year-round when playing alone or with friends in the fresh air, or even lining up before entering their classrooms.

What was the result of the new shelters?

Everyone at Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng was hugely impressed with the three outdoor canopies. They work incredibly well with the bright look of the new building and offer space for the children to always get outside and play or socialise, even if it’s raining, which can be valuable for their wellbeing, learning and development. The matching structures have increased the positive atmosphere at the site and the staff now wouldn’t be without them. It was a pleasure to add to the high-quality facilities in this project of improvements and we wish the school the very best in their first years settling into them.

About the client

Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng is a Welsh-medium primary school that has experienced the benefits of a £9.1m project funded by Powys County Council and the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme. It has included a new 150-place building and refurbishments of their existing Grade II listed building to bring the facilities right up to date. It was exciting to do our part in making this institution the best it could be for all its pupils.

Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng is based in Welshpool, Wales, a town with history at its heart. From its main streets filled with beautiful Georgian buildings to the partly medieval Powis Castle and Garden and the locally-focused Powysland Museum, it has plenty to offer an array of visitors. Locals like the pupils at Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng are also sure to enjoy riding on the heritage narrow-gauge Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway.

Why should I consider buying multiple shelters?

There are many benefits to purchasing more than one canopy structure. Here are just a few reasons why this is something you might want to explore.

  • To serve multiple needs – at your site, you may have need of a covered dining space but also want to spruce up your entrance and build somewhere for staff to safely store their bikes with a cycle shelter. Thanks to the diverse range of canopies available, you can find all the solutions you require with a set of them.
  • To create cohesion – many clients find that their outdoor areas need livening up and making more sense visually, so they are more appealing to customers, visitors or pupils. Buying multiple canopies with the same or slightly different designs can make this a reality.
  • To make the most of your space – schools often have large grounds that can go sadly unused during bad weather, but installing several shelters in playgrounds or other areas ensures that children can enjoy the fresh air in all seasons. They can also make businesses with outdoor space more enjoyable to visit throughout the year and potentially encourage more customers to visit.

It’s clear that buying multiple canopies can be beneficial for all sorts of clients. Want to find out more? Email our canopy and shelter specialists at [email protected] today.
