What was the project brief?

The Spring Centre in Quedgeley, Gloucestershire wanted to source a playground canopy because they were lacking outdoor shelter. They needed something with a colourful design that would make the space outside even more welcoming, which was also large enough to cover multiple people spending time in the fresh air and robust enough to shield them from all sorts of weather. After speaking to other clients, reviewing feedback and being impressed by the look of their products, the staff got in touch with A&S Landscape.

What was our playground canopy solution?

The Spring Trust Colourful CanopyFollowing talks about the various models and the benefits they would each provide, the Spring Centre thought that the Motiva Linear™ would work well at their facility. This popular product has a monopitch straight roof where one side is higher than the other, creating a modern and efficient design with many applications. The option of adding a multicoloured roof was hugely appealing to the team, and they combined this with Gentian Blue steelwork for an eye-catching, cheerful look that was sure to bring a smile to people’s faces. Specifications of 13500mm X 3000mm ensured that lots of people could make use of the playground shelter at once, while four post protector pads reduced safety risks. Plus, the polycarbonate roof was strong enough to withstand both wind and rain and allow the young people at the centre to enjoy being outdoors throughout the year.

What was the result of the new shelter?

The staff and attendees adore the playground canopy; it has brought a splash of colour to the area and has provided some much-needed shelter, so bad weather doesn’t stop anyone from having fun in the fresh air. The canopy structure completes the look of the playground and encourages positivity and creativity outdoors in everyone at the Spring Centre, thanks to its multicoloured roof and post pads. Hearing that this model met and exceeded the client’s expectations was music to our ears at A&S Landscape.

The Spring Centre

About the client

The Spring Centre is a day care facility for children and young adults with special needs and disabilities, and it also offers a preschool drop in service, an after school club and holiday activities. Its primary aim is ‘to improve the quality of life for the child or young person as well as their family group’, and the team there helps them to face challenges like needing specialist assistance or finding someone to talk to who understands their situation. A&S Landscape really enjoyed working with the staff, who were pleasant and helpful throughout the project.

The Spring Centre is situated in the town of Quedgeley in Gloucestershire. This beautiful county is brimming with spa and market towns, as well as stunning landscapes and the infamous Forest of Dean. Visitors and local people – such as those attending the Spring Centre and their families – can also enjoy a diverse sporting calendar.

What are the benefits of multicoloured roof canopies?

Colourful roof shelter we installed at Zaytouna Primary SchoolColoured roof shelters aren’t just suitable for schools; they can also be great additions to other organisations and businesses. Here are just a few ways in which they can bring value.

  • They are very customisable – they come in ten different colours, such as Lagoon Blue and Poppy Red. This means that you can choose the shades that reflect your brand and values and then create a stunning visual combination.
  • They brighten up outdoor spaces – colourful shelters instantly lift a building’s architecture and make the areas outside more attractive to visitors.
  • They are affordable – we are able to offer good rates on polycarbonate sheet colours as we are a large importer. This means that shelters with roofs made up of these can fit into many different types of budgets.
