If there is something they can offer their students that will improve their experience and education then they will do what they can to make it happen.

When they began looking for a cycle shelter for schools they found that there was a lot on offer, but most were flimsy and didn’t feel like they were as robust as they were hoping for.

However, when they saw A&S Landscape’s ‘Cyclo’ range, based on the size and spec of our Motiva outdoor playground shelters, they were impressed and called us in to install one.

We installed a single Cyclo ‘Bike’ at Fairfield Primary School, giving them space for 5 cycle racks, to accommodate 10 bicycles as well as taking the security to the next level with mesh panels to the rear and side elevations and a gate at the front.

Finished in a slate grey (RAL 7015) with opal roofing, this Cyclo ‘Bike’ looks as good as the job it does. Our Cyclo range is very popular because there really aren’t that many truly robust options on the market. Coming in the same range of RAL colours as all of our other shelters, a Cyclo can also make a powerful design statement and with a range of custom upgrades your shelter can go from secure to even more secure with the addition of walls and gates. What are the benefits of regularly cycling to school on children and how can schools encourage this activity?

With calculations that by 2050 70% of girls and 55% of boys will be overweight or obese, there has never been a more key time to cycle to school. Despite that, more parents than ever are driving their children to school. A Sustrans study showed that whilst 12% of parents were driven to school when they were younger, these days 35% of children are driven to school, so what has happened?

Parents mentioned concerns over road safety as one of the preventives to cycling to school, so schemes like ‘Bikeability’ where children gain the core of road safety are a fundamental step in preparing children for the cycle to school. Trying out the route at the weekends when the streets are likely to be less busy is also good preparation.
