Motiva Linear Canopy at Simon BalleThe brand new primary phase at Simon Balle creates an All-through School for the Hertford community. The classrooms are all full of new and exciting resources to engage the children and stimulate their developing minds. The outside areas are complimented with play area canopies from A&S Landscape, finished to match other architectural steelwork.

We were proud to work again for Balfour Beatty on this scheme, a key supplier to the education markets in the UK and US. Across the education sector, their experience ranges from the delivery of primary and secondary schools through to university buildings having completed projects throughout the UK from the refurbishment and extension of existing facilities to the construction of brand new campuses. We also installed a sail shade in Hertfordshire at Maxet House.

How can primary schools allow their children to play outdoors regularly and what are the benefits of doing so?

Promoting more outdoor play is not just about the physical aspect of their health though. Active play during breaks and lunchtimes are also helping children’s mental wellbeing. It shows them how to discuss their opinions and feelings and listen to those of others. The practice of expressing themselves, risk-taking and sharing are all pivotal stepping stones on the path to approaching adulthood with the skills to discuss, debate and empathise.
