The True Colours Trust – UK Grant

The True Colours Trust aims to improve the lives of children with special needs, and to support people with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses. The UK grants focus on these areas:

  • Improving the support received by children, and their families, who have complex disabilities.
  • Improving palliative care for UK children.

Eligible Organisations

Only UK registered charities can apply, and they must deliver projects in the UK. Local authorities are not eligible. The Trust also funds UK registered CICs with an annual income below £350,000 and does not fund organisations twice in a row.

Suitable Projects

Although there are no exact project types outlines, the Trust is particularly keen to support:

  • Hydrotherapy pools
  • Multi-sensory rooms
  • Minibuses
  • Young carers projects
  • Sibling projects
  • Bereavement support
  • Specialised play equipment

It also funds respite care, parent-led peer support, specialised play equipment, and bereavement services.

Application Process

An application form from the Trust’s website must be completed and submitted. This can be done online or by using a Word form. There is no save option on the online form, and decisions are usually shared within twelve weeks.

Important Dates

There is no deadline, and applications are open all year. Organisations must wait at least twelve months before reapplying if unsuccessful or previously funded.

Funding Range

Grants of up to £10,000 are available. Many awards are smaller, and funded groups must report on spending within twelve months.
