Community Action Northumberland

Community Action Northumberland (CAN) administers The Wingates Wind Farm Community Fund, which aims to support local community groups with funding for a variety of projects.

The following organisations are able to apply, but the projects must be of community bene t within the parishes of Brinkburn & Hesleyhurst, Longhorsley, Netherwitton, Nunnykirk, and Rothley & Hollinghill:

  • Constituted voluntary and community groups
  • Parish councils and schools

Suitable Projects

Funding can be used to support a wide range of activities including education, culture, arts, science, sport, environmental protection and sustainable transport improvements to community buildings etc. Both capital and revenue costs will be considered. Some examples of the range of projects which are eligible for funding are listed below:

  • Village hall improvements
  • Sporting facilities
  • New facilities
  • Extra-curricular activities
  • Local fairs
  • Cultural and sporting activities

Grants will normally be in the range of £250 to £2,000.
