St Wilfrid’s Catholic High School in Pontefract, West Yorkshire previously had a dining room which could only house half the school at a time. This brought with it many health and safety issues as well as making meal times difficult to manage. The children were not able to eat comfortably and there was not enough seating or time available for calm, efficient dining.

With a budget that didn’t stretch to a traditional extension, St Wilfrid’s Catholic High School approached A&S Landscape to discuss possible solutions. We were delighted to help, proposing many design options and eventually settling on a Motiva Duo canopy with glass panels. We removed all internal uprights, which maximised the internal space. The addition of heat and light added another dimension to the area, making it usable and comfortable throughout the year. The school logo was added to the glass panels which was a great design feature, we think this really adds to the overall impression that the canopy gives.

The children love the new space and the School Business Manager was very complimentary of the project, saying “The new dining area canopy from A&S Landscape has made a massive difference. Previously it was an unused, rather odd area of the school – now it has a purpose. The lighting and blow heating have also helped. A&S Landscape are an extremely professional company with pride in their work and they could not have done more to make this project go smoothly.”
