Entrance Canopy Installed at Hillcroft Surgery Supplies Ltd

Hillcroft Surgery Supplies Ltd is a pharmaceutical wholesaler with its main office at Houndstone Business Park in Yeovil, Somerset. There are two big warehouse units on their property, each with raised dock-level loading bays and a concrete yard next to it. The business needed an entrance canopy to protect employees and visitors as they entered the building. A modern, weatherproof entrance was needed because the number of daily site visits and deliveries was growing. Hillcroft wanted to create a clear and safe pathway into the building that wouldn't interfere with the existing structure. They needed a strong and well-designed canopy that would look good with the clean, professional style of the facility.

Challenges

  • Weather protection at the entrance: When people came in or out of the building, they often had to deal with wind and rain.
  • Building envelope integrity: The entrance solution had to avoid breaching the thermal seal or cladding of the existing warehouse.
  • Operational disruption: The installation of the canopy has to be completed without getting in the way of warehouse activity or access to loading bays.
  • Site aesthetics: The client wanted the new structure to look modern and clean, matching the newly renovated site.

Our Solution

We worked closely with Hillcroft to find out what the site needed and make sure operations weren’t interrupted. We suggested the Motiva Entrada™ entry canopy after doing a comprehensive site survey and consultation. This design suited the open space in front of the building and didn’t need to be attached to the wall of the warehouse.

We put up a 4700mm by 1800mm freestanding canopy with a transparent glass roof. The steelwork was painted Umbra Grey (RAL 7022), which matched the warehouse’s cladding and made it look professional.

The design was freestanding; therefore, the structure of the warehouse didn’t need to be changed. The concrete yard made it easy to securely install the structure. Our team did the work quickly and with as little inconvenience as possible.

Key Features and Materials

Structure: The all-steel frame has a Dura-coat™ finish in Umbra Grey (RAL 7022), which gives it long-lasting protection and style.

Roofing: Clear glass roofing panels allow natural light to pass through while keeping the weather elements out.

Design: The roofline was sleek and angled, giving it a modern look that went with the style of the warehouse.

Fixing method: Freestanding construction to avoid breaking through the building’s thermal envelope.

Drainage planning: The canopy design made sure that water was safely channelled away, which reduced splashback on the clean cladding.

Results

  • Shelter for the entrance area: Staff and visitors can now enter and leave the building without getting exposed to weather elements.
  • No modifications were made to the existing building: The design of the canopy did not require any adjustments to the warehouse seal or the structure itself.
  • Improvement in appearance: The sleek style made the front area of the facility look better than it used to be.
  • Continued operations: The installation went down without a hitch, and there was no interference with daily deliveries or staff movement.

Conclusion

This project at Hillcroft Surgery Supplies Ltd shows how a well-designed canopy can help with everyday problems without getting in the way of ongoing business. The Motiva Entrada™ provided safe shelter, matched the site’s appearance, and was put up swiftly with no disruption.

The entrance is now safer for both staff and visitors. The canopy has improved both comfort and the professional image of the business. We’re proud to have helped Hillcroft find a long-term and practical solution.
