Curved Roof Canopy at Beechgrove Junior School Oswestry

Recently we were fortunate to work on this curved roof canopy in Oswestry, Shropshire for Beechgrove Junior School.

Project Specification

  • Product: Motiva Mono™
  • Size: 6000mm x 4000mm
  • Steelwork:
    • Moss Green - RAL NO. 6005

  • Roof:
    • Clear

We worked during the summer period which meant the installation of the 5000mm x 4000mm Motiva Mono didn’t disturb the busy school schedule.

When parents collected kids from the school, they often had to wait in poor weather conditions so this curved entrance canopy with smart Green (RAL 6005) steelwork and a clear roof has given them somewhere to shelter when it’s raining.

How playing outdoors can help children to sleep better and stay healthy and how we can encourage them to do so

Our wellbeing is badly affected by not getting sufficient exercise, resulting in increasing rates of obesity in children and adolescents. Children are not playing outside as much as they have done in the past, curbing their contact with sunlight and thus the creation of Vitamin D which helps to fight infection and keeps skin healthy. Sunlight also helps to regulate the production of melatonin which regulates sleep. Electronic devices emit harmful blue light, which can cause headaches and eye strain. Blue light in the evenings can even restrict the development of melatonin, which in turn can make going to sleep very challenging for some children.

It was a real pleasure working at Beechgrove Junior School and we know the school are really happy with their new outdoor entrance shelter. The Headteacher commented specifically on our excellent service. Thank you Beechgrove Junior School, it was our pleasure.

“Many thanks for a job well done! The canopy has enhanced the look of the building. It has provided us with a place for parents to wait to collect their child to shelter from the rain. The canopy has provided a meeting point for parents encouraging them to be more part of the school. The design of the canopy is excellent as it gives a more modern feel to what is a very boxy, drab 1970’s building. Thanks again.”
