What was the project brief?

Fabric Canopies at Cleeve Park SchoolCleeve Park School in Sidcup wanted a pair of shelters to create shaded areas in its grounds. The team there had shade sails in mind as they thought something modern and innovative would work well with the existing facilities and their ideals. They needed them to provide students with relief from the sun during the summer and protection from the rain in months with more unpredictable weather. Matching designs were also appealing in order to have a striking visual effect, with large sizes to offer ample coverage for all. The staff decided to get in touch with us and we were quick off the mark in finding them their ideal canopies.

What was our canopy solution?

Cleeve Park School had lots to consider but, after talking through their requirements and ideas with the A&S Landscape team, they settled on the Maxima StarSail™. This product was a fantastic choice because it balances functionality with spectacular aesthetics, and it suits a variety of applications from playgrounds to public spaces. We installed two of these shelters, each measuring 5000mm X 5000mm, with identical Moss Green roofs and Squirrel Grey steelwork that looked sophisticated and contemporary. They were just the right size for offering young people a sunshade when enjoying time outside on their breaks, whether it was after a game of football or when socialising with friends.

What was the result of the new shelters?

The staff and students think the world of the shade sails; now they can get the most out of spending time outdoors when they’re at school, whatever the weather. Multiple people can fit in the shaded areas, and the matching structures look impressive standing beside each other in the grounds. The two shelters can be used for all sorts of purposes, like having some lunch in the fresh air on a damp day or catching up with classmates on a clear one when the weather warms up. We were thrilled to be able to provide this institution with two perfect solutions to its problem.

How can fabric canopies transform outdoor facilities?

regent high school fabric canopiesOur shade sails and other fabric shelters are just what many clients need to bring something new to their grounds, through both practical and appealing products. Here are just a few ways in which they can do this.

  • Adding character

Fabric canopies come in a range of exciting designs that can evoke different feelings and convey different messages about your school or business. You could choose a simple, elegant design to show sophistication or something more complex with multiple sails to make an area look more fun.

  • Providing shelter

Many customers that come to us have no covered space outside at all, so installing a canopy can offer their clients, staff or students with a way to get outside throughout the year.

  • Adding colour

Whether it’s with muted, inconspicuous designs or brightly coloured roofs, fabric shelters can give your grounds a new lease of life and even reflect your branding.

  • Creating new areas

Purchasing a shade sail is an excellent way of extending your usable space into other parts of your site. The new areas can be used for everything from dining to play and reduce pressure on other facilities. This can result in increased business, higher customer satisfaction, or even more enrichment in children’s school days.

  • Adapting to your needs

These shelters are able to work well for any type of facility because you can change their design, configuration, size and colours to suit you and get the best results.
