Safe Outdoor Space Installed at Blessed Trinity RC College

The school wanted to make better use of their external area and provide cover from the frequent Lancashire rain. They needed a strong, long-lasting canopy that would allow pupils to gather safely outdoors throughout the year.

Blessed Trinity RC College approached A&S Landscape to help them find the right solution that balanced strength, durability, and appearance.

Challenge

• Limited outdoor shelter: Students often had to stay indoors during wet weather, leading to crowded corridors and dining areas.
• High foot traffic: With over 1,200 pupils, any new structure needed to handle constant daily use.
• Weather exposure: Being located in Burnley means frequent rain and wind, so the structure had to be very sturdy.
• Safety and access: The canopy needed to be installed without interrupting the school’s daily schedule or creating hazards during construction.

Our Solution

After reviewing the site and discussing the school’s needs, we recommended installing a Maxima Tepee® canopy. This model is ideal for schools that want an open, stylish, and long-lasting shelter.

We supplied and installed a single Maxima Tepee® measuring 18,000mm x 9,000mm. The large structure provided plenty of covered space for pupils to socialise, eat lunch, or wait between lessons.

To ensure safety and comfort, we also added our Quartz Safety Surface™ resin flooring beneath the canopy. This slip-resistant surface keeps the area safe and clean even in wet conditions.

The clever design of the Maxima Tepee® meant minimal uprights were needed, allowing free movement under the structure. The built-in gutter system ensures efficient rainwater drainage, keeping the area dry and pleasant to use.
