Matthew Moss High School Installs Enclosed Dining Structure

With so many students on site, the school needed more space at busy times of the day. Lunchtimes were especially crowded, and the existing dining areas could not hold everyone comfortably. Staff wanted a safe and warm area where students could eat, relax, and meet friends.

They needed a solution that would give them more room without the cost and delay of a traditional building project. That is when they approached us to help create a new enclosed dining space.

Project Overview

Motiva Expanse™

Challenges:

  • Insufficient dining capacity: The school’s dining areas were too small for the high number of students on site.
  • Need for an all-year-round space: Staff wanted a warm and bright area that pupils could use in every season.
  • Limited room for expansion: The new dining structure had to fit neatly within the existing layout of the school grounds.
  • Tight installation window: The school needed a solution that could be installed quickly with minimal disruption.

Our Solution:

We worked closely with the school to understand how their pupils moved around the site each day. We also looked at how their busy timetable affected the flow of students at lunch.

After this initial consultation, we recommended the Motiva Expanse™, as it provides a strong and enclosed space that works well for dining. We supplied a structure measuring 15000mm by 10000mm, giving the school a large and usable area.

The steel roof offered strength and long-term reliability, which was important for a school with heavy daily use. We added heating and lighting so the space could be used in any season. We also included suitable flooring to make the area safe, tidy, and easy to clean.

The new structure can hold many students at once, which helped ease pressure on their main building. The project ran smoothly thanks to clear planning and our detailed design work.

Key Features and Materials:

  • Structure: Strong steel frame with our Dura-coat™ finish for long-lasting colour and protection.
  • Roofing: Solid steel roof for maximum durability and year-round shelter.
  • Sides: Fully enclosed system to keep the space warm and comfortable.
  • Heating: Built-in heating to support use through the winter months.
  • Lighting: Bright lighting to create a clean and safe atmosphere.

Results:

  • Reduced lunchtime congestion: The enclosed space eased pressure on the main dining areas and created a calmer setting.
  • Reliable all-weather use: Pupils now enjoy a warm and welcoming area no matter the season.
  • Better site management: Staff noted smoother movement around the school during busy times of the day.
  • More usable space created: The new dining structure expanded the school’s facilities without the cost of a full building project.

Conclusion:

This project shows how the right structure can transform a busy school site. The Motiva Expanse™ gave Matthew Moss High School the extra dining space it needed without long delays or high costs.

The new area supports both staff and students by making lunchtime calmer and more comfortable. It also gives the school a flexible room they can use in many ways throughout the year.

We are proud to have helped create a space that improves daily life for so many young people and supports the school’s focus on well-being and high standards.
