The Royal Society – Partnership Grants

The scheme supports investigative STEM research projects delivered in partnership with a STEM professional from academia or industry, enabling hands-on research in the classroom for students aged 5–18.

Eligible Organisations

Schools in the UK are welcome to apply. This includes primary schools, secondary schools and sixth form colleges across the UK (including the Channel Islands and Isle of Man). Groups of schools may apply collaboratively provided one UK school acts as the lead applicant and manages the grant.

Suitable Projects

This scheme funds investigative STEM projects. The aim of the grant is to allow students to develop key skills, including research, problem-solving and data-handling.

Application Process

Applications must be completed through the Royal Society’s Flexi-Grant® system and are submitted in two stages:

  • Stage 1 confirms eligibility of the school, project and STEM partner
  • Stage 2 requires detailed information on the budget, timeline and partner engagement, and must be countersigned by both the lead STEM partner and the head teacher or principal.

Important Dates

This scheme opens for new applications every February. For the 2026 round, applications open on 23 February 2026, with submission deadlines on 30 April 2026, 10 July 2026 and 30 November 2026. The round closes on 1 December 2026, and applicants are typically notified of outcomes within three months of the relevant deadline.

Funding Range

Grants are available between £500 and £3,000, depending on the scale and needs of the project.
