The Henry Smith Charity – Holiday Grants

The programme offers one-off grants for schools, youth groups, and non-profit organisations to take children aged 13 and under on recreational day trips or short residential trips, with the aim of providing fun and enriching experiences that children would not otherwise be able to access.

Eligible Organisations

Schools, not-for-profit organisations, and small charities are invited to apply. Priority is given to groups that apply within the bottom 20% of the most deprived areas in the UK. Youth groups and UK-based non-profits with an organisational income below £2m are also eligible.

Suitable Projects

The funding will cover up to two-thirds of the total cost. The trip can last 1–7 days and can be at any location within the UK. Examples of trips include theme parks, adventure activity centres, the seaside, or museums. Trips should be recreational only; no educational or religious aims. Trips to high-cost destinations such as expensive theme parks or sporting events are less likely to receive funding.

Application Process

The application process is online. Applicants must first complete a short eligibility quiz. If eligible, they can then access the application form.
