Learning through Landscapes: Local School Nature Grants Scheme

Small grants are available to help schools set up or develop a nature area in their grounds. The scheme supports projects that involve pupils aged 5+ and encourage learning through nature, both in school and the wider community.

Eligible Organisations

All infant, primary and secondary schools in England, Scotland and Wales are welcome to apply. Early years settings can also apply if they employ at least five staff and operate from a building, either standalone or part of a school.

Individual childminders are not eligible, and schools can only receive the grant once.

Suitable Projects

Grants must be used to purchase nature equipment from the product catalogue provided by Learning through Landscapes. Projects should improve outdoor spaces, support outdoor learning, and involve pupils and the local community in planning and use.

Application Process

There is an online application form to complete on the Learning through Landscapes website. Applications are judged on the quality and creativity of ideas rather than writing skills, and equipment is chosen during the application.

Important Dates

Applications open on Monday 12 January 2026 and close on Friday 13 March 2026.
All applicants will receive a decision by Friday 27 March 2026.

Funding Range

The funding provides £500 of outdoor equipment, a Climate Curriculum Kit, a school grounds climate survey, and up to a half-day staff training session funded by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.
