Gatwick Airport Community Trust

Gatwick Airport Community Trust awards grants for projects in East and West Sussex, Surrey and Kent, which are most affected by airport operations. The scheme supports the environment, conservation work, community and sports facilities, the arts, young people, volunteering, and older or disabled people. The Trust is an independent charity set up in 2002 and run by nine volunteer trustees, with funding linked to passenger numbers and airline noise fines.

Eligible Organisations

Charities, not-for-profits, community groups, schools, and sports groups may apply. Applications must come from organisations based in areas directly affected by Gatwick Airport, and individuals cannot apply.

Suitable Projects

Projects may support young people, the arts, sports facilities, environmental work, community buildings, volunteering, or help for older or disabled people. School projects must be above core duties and may include playground equipment, green systems, or youth and community activities.

Application Process

Applicants must read the guidelines, check the project is within the area of benefit, and apply using the online form. Grants are awarded once a year, and groups seeking larger grants should contact the Trust before applying.

Important Dates

Applications usually open in January each year, and projects should not start before 1 July in the year of application.

Funding Range

The normal grant level is £1,000 to £5,000. Larger grants may be considered where many people benefit and long-term impact is clear.
