Canopy we fitted at Riverside Bridge SchoolOutside, they had a nice large play area but something was definitely missing, it had no shade or shelter for the students. A&S Landscape has worked with schools for more than 40 years, so we knew that we would have just the right product to complement the campus.

There are so many options when you begin to look into school canopies. From steel and polycarbonate canopies to fabric roofed canopies. You can choose from a wide range of colours in order to brand or personalise the canopy, depending on your design or theme. The canopy that Riverside Bridge School decided on was an Umbrella style canopy from our Maxima range. It was installed at 5000mm x 5000mm, with Slate Grey (RAL 7015) steelwork and Victoria Blue waterproof fabric.

The canopy looks great against the modern backdrop of the building. The play area is now completed and the children can use the area whether it is sunny or rainy. The PVC fabric offers shade or shelter depending on the day. The canopy adds an important option for the children to have some outside time no matter what the weather has to offer.

A&S Landscape has almost 1500 images in our gallery to offer you some inspiration if you are considering a similar project.

How to keep your school playground safe and why this is so crucial

Playgrounds can become dangerous for a wide variety of numerous reasons. Unsafe behaviour is undoubtedly something that teachers and students alike should be on the lookout for. But together with protecting children from the weather, uneven and improper surfaces can also cause injuries – and unsafe or broken outdoor equipment can swiftly turn the fun sour.

It’s supposed that in the UK alone, around 40,000 children suffer from playground accidents. A huge amount of these even end up in the hospital or A&E, making it essential that schools do everything they can to implement proper playground safety. UK schools across the country have trouble with making their playgrounds as safe as possible – thankfully, a lot of these accidents can be prevented with vigilant supervision.
