Umbrella Shade Added to Woodlands Primary School in Telford

Woodlands Primary School has a wonderful learning environment for their pupils. They focus on the outdoor space as well as the indoor space.

    • Slate Grey - RAL NO. 7015

This makes sense because it is clear to see that children who have time outside to play and run off steam, have improved focus and concentration in lessons. As part of their outdoor area, the school wanted to add some shade and shelter.

A&S Landscape has been helping schools to enhance their outdoor spaces for more than 40 years, so we knew that we would have the right product for Woodlands Primary School. The decision was taken to install a Maxima Umbrella. They chose an Umbrella at 5000mm x 5000mm in Aniseed fabric with Slate Grey (RAL 7015) steelwork. It looks fantastic and really brightens up the area as well as creating the shade and shelter that they wanted for the children.

“Very professional service, great product, the workmen were very helpful and always on time. Great job.

– Woodlands Primary School”

Woodlands Primary School now have just what they were hoping for. The children are sheltered from the sun as well as the rain and the new shade looks smart, adding a striking design feature to the playground. Everyone at the school is rightly very pleased with it. We also installed several Maxima Umbrella canopies at Blackmarston School in Hereford.

How Does Learning Outside Positively Effect Children and What Can Schools Do to Help Classes Learn Outdoors

There are a large number of benefits of learning outside which help students as well as teaching staff. A factor that is generally overlooked is the teacher’s satisfaction of teaching lessons and how the chance to teach outside can be just as stimulating for them as it is for children. Being in an outdoor surrounding is healthy and breeds positivity for teachers which is generally emulated in their lessons and the way they teach. If a teacher is uninspired, that loss of enthusiasm can carry over into their lessons but putting them in contact with nature can outright change the way they envision teaching.
