Secure Cycle Store Installed at Jesus College
A&S Landscape was approached to install a playground canopy at a school in North London. When we saw the lovely grassy area in the playground we could see that it was crying out for some shade. We know that we had just the thing.
Ultramarine Blue - RAL NO. 5002
The Maxima Sail is a versatile product that comes in many colours (see here). The decision was to go with a shade in Desert Sand with Marine Blue steelwork. This looked lovely in the outside area and provided a super space for the children to play, learn and socialise protected from the sun’s UV rays.
The sail was constructed on four uprights and measured 3500mm x 3000mm. As an additional safety measure, two post pads in blue were added to the posts which were not adjacent to the fence. This helped to ensure that even occasional playground bumps were Kept to a minimum.
The children at Wilbury School are fortunate to have a nice outside space. They can now enjoy more fresh air and outside time, regardless of what the weather happens to be doing. Ofsted recognises the importance of outdoor learning and the options for this are increased by offering shade and shelter to part of the garden. A win-win for pupils, parents and pupils at this lovely school.
“The product was exactly as we expected.”
Headteacher – Wilbury School
Encouraging more outdoor play is not just about the physical element of their health though. Active play during the school day are also helping children’s mental wellbeing. It teaches them how to talk about their beliefs and feelings and listen to those of others. The practice of expressing themselves, taking risks and sharing are all key stepping stones on the path to approaching adulthood with the skills to discuss, debate and empathise.
