Colourful Roof Canopy at Coleham Primary School Shropshire

It was a delight to install this colourful roof canopy in Shrewsbury, Shropshire at Coleham Primary School, to cover an outdoor play area.

Project Specification

  • Product: Motiva Linear™
  • Size: 9000mm x 3000mm
  • Steelwork:
    • Gentian Blue - RAL NO. 5010

At 9000mm x 3000mm with attractive, playful Blue (RAL 5010) steelwork and a colourful roof, it shines rainbow light down into the play area on sunny days.

An outdoor shelter for schools like this doesn’t just make an attractive addition but adds a whole new space with a new purpose and gives children the chance to spend more time outside on days when they’d normally have to stay indoors.

How Does Learning Outside Positively Effect Children and What Can Schools Do to Help Classes Learn Outdoors

There are loads of benefits of learning outside which help students as well as staff. A consideration that is regularly unrecognised is the teacher’s enjoyment of teaching lessons and how the possibility to teach outside can be just as inspiring for them as it is for children. Being in an outdoor space is healthy and leads to positivity for teachers which is regularly emulated in their lessons and the way they teach. If a teacher is uninspired, that loss of energy can carry over into their lessons but putting them in contact with nature can thoroughly change the way they perceive teaching.

We spoke to Coleham Primary School about their new outdoor canopy for play areas and they were delighted, with one member of staff in awe of the beautiful rainbow coloured roof, declaring it ‘Brilliant’. A&S Landscape also installed a multicoloured polycarbonate roof canopy at The Limes Primary Academy.

Responses like that make the job worthwhile because we’re not just installing shelters for schools, we’re adding real value to our clients and their pupils. Thanks for having us Coleham Primary School! We’d love to work with you again.
